A 6-month-old baby needs a transplant - but budget cuts in Medicaid give the infant boy a death warrant. Similar events in other states show the devastation of an economic crisis coupled with a Conservative movement to reduce or eliminate essential social services.

Ideology and conservative "principles" have been blamed for abandoning the elderly, the sick, children, and the poor. Some say "it's God's will," a way of turning aside from those who need help. Others say that if people can't pay for something then they either don't want it badly enough, or don't deserve it.

How a society treats its most vulnerable defines that society. Here is a story with not just one but multiple examples of how some Americans want to treat the vulnerable - in a barbaric and inhumane fashion.

This is the meaning of the real battle between the ultra-right Libertarians and Tea Party adherents and the more centrist or progressive adherents. Here is where we can measure the results of the conflicts in Washington, DC.

And these are the same people who would be pitching a fit, if this mother had to have an abortion because of fetal abnormality......Love the fetus, hate the child mantra at it's finest......

This proves my point about the pro-"life" lobby, who only care about a clump of cells, but allow the baby to die.

We need a public option and we need to eliminate "states' rights". The Founding Fathers were naive in that respect.

Of course we could do that! Kenneth Starr, himself, said that any right could be taken away.
